Reputation, Reputation, Reputation
As more and more of us find work or income on line through on-demand platforms like AirBnB, Uber, and Task Rabbit, our online reputations are becoming critical to our livelihoods. What does it mean for individual workers, to have their reputations “owned” by corporations who can cancel an account at the blink of an eye? What responsibility do cooperative platforms have to make their worker-owners’ individual reputations portable and inclusive of all the economic activity that they generate? What kind of organizing will it take for workers be able to regain control over their own reputations?
